ELMWOOD UNDER 7’sExcellence at an entry level! We have reached the end of the 2013/14 season and what a great season it has been for the club. Our new under 7s have had a cracking start to their football, the under 11s - in their first junior season - are promoted, the under 13s secured runners up spot and are promoted and finally....the under 14s are crowned Champions. A big thanks to all the managers and coaches for these teams but above all, many congratulations to the boys and girls in those teams. Under 7s - Most clubs strive for under 7 teams as they are the entry level; they are the foundations for youth football. Elmwood Colts under 7s have had a fantastic first season, getting better and better with each game. They have played some quality football, have scored a lot of goals and risen to every challenge.Manager, Ryan and coach Dave and done a brilliant job, and all involved with the team are a welcome addition to the club.Under 7 teams play every other week and results aren’t published. The team have played 13 games, and won 12 and lost just the one. They have scored a staggering 74 goals and conceded 25. That’s a ratio of 3 to 1 - at any level that is impressive. The defeat was a close 2-1 loss. A wonderful first season and seeing by the results they are going to themselves, the parents and the club proud.
The Under 9s - A brilliant start to the season for our under 9s – another new team for the 13/14 season. The team had a brilliant first half of the season, pretty much beating all comers. The team were moved into another division at the half way stage and found the going a little tougher. At the half way point the team also lost two players to Southend United and Charlton, well done to Presley and Joe. I am sure that next season the under 9s will start to flourish – well done team and thanks to Lewis and Tony for managing the team. Under 11 - Our under 11s are the first Elmwood team to play the 9v9 format. They entered the junior league as an untested group, having been formed from several mini teams. Straight into Division C and straight into the good results. The first season in a bigger format of the game often takes a little adjusting and time to settle. The team quickly gelled and played some good attacking football. They finished runners up and we wish them well in Division B. Well done team and thanks to Audrey and Lloyd. The stats.. League: Played 16 , won 10 , drew 2 , lost 4 – Points 32. Goals scored 53, against 29.Cup - 2nd Round: Played 2, won 1, lost 1. Goals scored 11, against 1Under 13 - this group of players have been together for a few seasons and have grown into a good and strong team. It would be accurate to say that the start of the 13\14 campaign wasn't as the team would have wanted; the boys lost their opening two game and then drew and lost two from the next four - so not a good start. After the loss on 27th October the boys went on a 12 match unbeaten league and cup run that was stopped in the quarter final of the League Cup. In the league they didn’t lose any matches after October, which was a 13 match unbeaten run with 9 wins on the spin. Two very hard fought games at the end of the season against Essex that were won more or less saw the boys home – a great season. They finished runners up and we wish them well for the next season. Well done team and thanks to John and Steve. The stats....League: Played 18, won 13, drew, 2 lost 3. Goals scored 79 and against 32 (4 clean sheets). Cup - Quarter Finalist: Played 5, won 4, lost 1, goals for 13, against 13 Under 14 - Many congratulations to our under 14s who were crowned champions. As with the 13s the team have been together for quite a while. A few new additions to the squad meant they started the season with high hopes – they started the season with a defeat! The opening loss was followed by 7 straight league wins and there was no stopping them. The league was won with a game to spare. Very well done to the team and Manager Simon. The stats.....League :Played 14, won 11, drew 0, lost 3 – goals for 51, against 20 points 33Cup - 4th Round: Played 4, won 3, lost 1 – goals for 7, against 8Under 16 - Elmwood has two under 16 teams. Many of the boys have been with the club for a long time and for some they have played their last match for Elmwood. A heartfelt thanks to all the players of the Under 16 Eagles and under 16 Falcons. Hopefully some of the boys will play on as under 18s but for those who decide to hang up the boots - thank you for choosing Elmwood Colt and thanks for your hard work - very best wishes for your futures. I would also like to thank Gary Baker, Mark Tansley and Gary Creasey for their support for Elmwood Colts over the seasons, their hard work, the dedication to their teams and finally, their loyalty to the Club.
